Moving Along

Things are moving along quite nicely lately. DH has been working a TON of OT - in fact, I was able to put a $900 snowflake on our current target card yesterday! Only $650 to go!!! Then we have to take a month or so to pay for a few things that we would typically put on a credit card. We buy our ski passes before April 30 because they are like 40% off at that time... and we also like to purchase our Amusement Park Passes - We more then get our money out of them. So we will take a little break to save up the $ to purchase that stuff.

Other then that, things are just moving along. Pretty quiet around here since I have decided to step down next year. Still getting my stuff done & actually had a nice compliment from a few staff members at the school - they said they were proud of me and how I am still being the smiling positive face getting things done that I had committed to do. That was pretty awesome to me.

Be Back Soon with my goal list for next week!

So Far... So Good

March is off to a better start for me. Well, we are only a few days in... but good is good, right?!?! I'm sure it helps that we left for GS Camp Friday & stayed until Sunday - then didn't feel like going anywhere when we got home.

This week should be a pretty low spend week for us.

Monday - Work Out, Grocery, In School to do a reminder about fundraiser due on thursday & some home chores
Tuesday - Work Out & Clean my kitchen
Wednesday - Meeting in the Am for PTA Council, GS Leader Meeting in PM, planing to try to work out after lunch?
Thursday - PTA Meeting & End of Fundraiser - Need to Tally - Maybe squeeze in a workout
Friday - Work Out - there is another PTA meeting, but I already told them that I wasn't able to commit to it.

With all of this stuff going on, I am just not going to want to be there yet a third day dealing with them. I am going to get through the rest of the year & have decided that I really am going to step back & stay back out of our PTA - I will be there to help my teacher that DD will get next year & if there is something that maybe the principal/secretary ask of me, but that is all. It is hard to work with people that aren't in it for the right reasons. Am I being selfish to step out? I want to do what is right.

Hope your March is off to a good start!

March in Waiting!

Thanks for all the comments guys on the PTA mess - so glad that you all would have done the same thing that I did! This weekend was just so much better for me not stressing like I did the previous weekend!

This just goes to show you how much I need this blogging! I have dropped the ball most of the month with tracking & staying on schedule. I have things to do ;)

March is going to be about catching up & getting back on track. My goals are going to include getting back my me! gym time, reading, my house, my family - everything else will take a back seat!

My current targetted card is down to $2,000 ~ I am going to try my hardest to pay it off this month. It is going to be tough & it is going to depend on if DH gets some OT or not. If there is no OT, then I am going to hold strong to get it down to $1,000 by the end of the month. It isn't going to be easy, but I can do this. We got the Furnace/Air out of the way, so that is no longer on the front of my mind. It kinda took over all of my financial thoughts in February... now it is done - get back to regularly schedule debt paying!

Any good goals on your tab for March?

My Life is Just CRAZY

Over the past few weeks, I feel as though someone is going to jump out from behind a tree & say that I have been part of a TV show that creates drama to see how the person deals with it! *sigh* I truly feel that this past month has been a crap shoot!

Financially things have been fine. DH has been working some OT - I did save $350 to give him for a ski trip because he has been working so hard for the family. I typically just give him very little to just get his lift ticket & that is all. But I think he deserves to go and to have fun. We also have had our Furnace & Air replaced this past week. That eats up all of our tax return. That is totally worth it though because we really needed it done. It is nice to cross it off.

Big drama in the PTA - I have had to laugh because people have always said that there is so much drama in there PTA. Well, now I can see first hand some of that drama! And I am right in the middle of it! I feel like I was tossed into a flaming pile of poo! ;) Thing is, our president this year is first year. She isn't very good ~ nominating committee got together & threw my name in. The problem, one of the members of the nom committee is bffs with the current pres. So instead of getting the we think you would do a great job, are you interested in accepting the nomination... I got the how dare you do this to me (from the current pres!) then I got guilt tripped into just dropping out (will not serve under her - I have spent a majority of my year this far quietly picking up pieces of things that she has dropped the ball on ~ won't do it again) It has been so ugly for about a week and a half now - we had a meeting with the two of us, the principal of our school & nom committee. At that meeting she said it was personal & she couldn't put her feelings aside, she also said that she doesn't think there should be a vote & when the principal mentioned that the super of our school district knew what was going on.... I walked out - there was no reason for me to be in there. That is so uncalled for! (current pres has been running her mouth about me to anyone who will listen - at that point I had to drop out because dd & I have a pretty good name in the schools & it isn't worth risking respect over) Like i said, a flaming pile of poo!

So - I am back needing to do what I need to do to get back on track with tracking everything because this month has just been trashed totally. So glad it is almost March - I need to pick up the pieces!

Looking forward to getting back into reading blogs & commenting! Miss you guys!

So Sorry!

I am so sorry that I haven't been around much! There isn't a ton of stuff going on, but life has been steady & I haven't given much thought into blogging.... things are going pretty well around here. Just sticking to the plan and getting things paid. Nothing too exciting. We did get a few estimates for the furnace/air - one came in at $4,875 & the other came in at $5,080. The cheaper is going to have to put a new vent in the house, take longer to install & they don't have the same 10 years transferrable warranty as the other guys. The higher quote is going to install one day, has a 10 year parts/labor transferrable warranty (cheaper was one year) he is throwing in a different air filter unit, they have 75 years in the area - We are thinking that we will probably go with the $5,080 --- I really think the warranty is a selling point for what we need. Will update you as soon as we know!

Hope your month is going frugal!

Wow Guys!

Thank you all so much for your comments! It was so tough for me to think about those decisions! This is why I love this blogging stuff! ;)

We have two people coming in this week to look at the furnace/air to give us quotes. Our house isn't that big, so I would have to assume that it isn't going to cost much more then $4,000 - $5,000.... but I will keep you updated (we have one person coming Wednesday & another on Thursday) Our taxes were big this year due to a bonus that Dh got & also the OT that he started to get towards the end of the year. (they tax that stuff so much for us!) We typically get only around $2,000 at best - so it really isn't a huge thing to change the holdings - that may bite us in the butt & that would not be a good thing!)

Depending on how much the furnace/air will cost us - we will start to look into the roof - maybe that can be an end of summer project (unless the furnace/air isn't as much as we think it is going to be)

Our MAIN goal is being able to sell our house without having to pay anything into it ~ or having to pay for it for a year while it is trying to sell. Getting rid of the second, putting in new furnace/air & a roof will definitely make that happen. And there is a point where I hope that maybe we get the second paid off & I can start paying on credit ~ who knows, maybe at that point I can get most of it gone too! We have taken some necessary steps to get going & have been watching all of our pennies - DH has been working as much as they ask him... there is a possibility! Just keep swimming!!!!

Thanks for all of your support!!!

What would YOU do?

Okay - so there has been this dilemma that has been making me sick to my stomach! (it isn't necessarily a bad thing ~ I am just lost as to the right thing to do.) As I mentioned before, we were planning to take our Income Tax Return & get a new Furnace/Air installed into the house. This will help with the sale of our house in the future. Well, we still have 18 months - 2 years before we are due to transfer out of state.... Our tax return is going to be $4,000! We never dreamed it would be so big. So that poses the question ~ do we use it towards furnace/air or do we use it to pay down a nice chunk of our credit card debt? We have so much that needs done before we can move, I just don't know which direction to move in?!?!?

What needs to be done....
1 ~ Credit Card Debt ~ needs to go down - but this is something that we could technically take with us
2 ~ Second Mortgage ~ this has to be gone - (we bought our house with nothing down & our down payment is our second mortgage) DH will be getting a moving allowance - this could be paid off if it came down to it with the moving allowance
3 ~ Furnace/Air & Roof ~ this helps the sale of this house - we truly think it would be a deal breaker if these things weren't done

So what would YOU do? What should be first?
